Delgado de la Sol is a major protagonist in this story. In his early 20's when the story begins, Delgado is married to his childhood sweetheart, Sara. Upon the death of his father, Delgado assumes his responsibilities as a councilman of his village, Bad Kreuznach in the Holy Roman Empire.
Aaron's life and that of Sara are changed forever when a group of three men come looking for him to come along as a representative at the Council of Constance where he witnesses the persecution of the Bohemian Religious Reformer Jan Huss. A event that would change his life forever.
